HEADSHOTS WITH REAL CHARACTER

A strong headshot should do more than show what you look like. It should hint at character, range and presence. These sessions are built to create images that feel more distinctive than the standard formula.

Session details

Relaxed, untimed sessions, shaped around you.

The aim is not just to leave with a usable photo. It’s to create a set of images with real character, whether that means a clean casting shot, something darker and more cinematic, or a mix of both. That takes time, so sessions stay flexible, collaborative and untimed.

FAQs

These should help. If it's something else, reach out!

  • Most sessions take place at a fully equipped studio just off the A49 in Shrewsbury. It’s easy to get to by car and there is parking on site, which makes the whole experience much more relaxed than battling with a town-centre studio!

  • Bring a mix. Plain, simple outfits are often useful because they keep the focus on your face and expression. But if bolder pieces, texture or a more distinctive look are genuinely part of your personality or the way you want to be seen, bring those too - Dare to be bold!

  • Yes. A lot of people want a mix. Cleaner, casting-friendly shots still have their place, especially for actors. But portraits with more mood, character and cinematic edge can help you feel more distinctive and memorable, particularly when casting directors are scrolling through hundreds of headshots that often follow the same formula.

  • No. Sessions are untimed. We take our time to relax and get comfortable, settle in, try different ideas, and keep refining things until we have images we love.

  • I keep the pricing very simple: The session fee is £400. Retouched images are then £50 each, so you only pay for the ones you actually want.

  • After the session, we'll sit and run through the photos together. You choose the images you want to keep. That way, you are not locked into a fixed package or paying for shots you may never use.

  • Chosen images are retouched, but the aim is always to keep them feeling natural - You on a particularly good day! Clean, polished and professional, not overworked.

  • Final images are supplied digitally, ready to use for casting, promotion, websites, press or other professional use.

  • Of course! Most people are not turning up as seasoned models. The sessions are collaborative and relaxed, we listen to music, explore ideas, with plenty of guidance along the way.

  • It’s a quiet, relaxed and fully equipped studio that works brilliantly for this kind of session. There’s space to try different looks and lighting setups, and the atmosphere stays calm and collaborative. We usually have music on, take our time, and keep things easy rather than overly formal.

  • Yes. Location portraits are available for editorial, promotional and business use, with pricing quoted depending on the brief and location.

What my clients say

LOCATION SHOOTS AVAILABLE

I also take on location portrait work for editorial, promotional and business use.

Not every portrait needs to happen in the studio. Location shoots are available for editorial, promotional and business use, whether you need something more natural, more contextual, or simply better suited to the way the images will be used. This side of the work is quoted depending on the brief, location and intended usage, but the same approach applies: thoughtful, well-crafted portraits with character, presence and a strong sense of atmosphere.
